Fire on the mountain!
July 3rd, 2007
We had just finished up working about the property because it was getting hot. We settled down on the couch to watch a movie. About half way into the movie, the trailer started to shake, rattle and almost roll. The sound of the propellers on what turned out to be a helicopter was deafening. Cheryl and I jumped up to see what could have caused this rather rude disruption in our lives.
When we looked out the door we saw a CDF Air Tanker plane buzzing us along with a helicopter transporting a bucket of water.
As we got over that initial shock and looked to or right we saw a large column of heavy black smoke emanating from our not too distant neighbors property. We were not sure just how close it was at first. Down the driveway we ran (sort of) to see what this aberration was all about.
We got about a 100 yards down the road and there it was, oue neighbors house completely engulfed in flames. The planes were buzzing, the helicopter was dousing and the brave firemen were working on the fiery hunk of metal someone once called home.
Thank God the 2 old guys that lived there got out ok. There home is completely destroyed but they are safe.
We could not leave to rush home and tell the kids of our adventure for a couple of hours while the fire fighters finished up their work.
"Be thankful of what you have today, who knows what tomorrow will bring."
